Catholic Priest, 10 Others Kidnapped in Fresh Kaduna Attack
Terrorists invade Karku community in Kauru LGA killed Three and kidnapped 10 others
A Catholic priest and ten other persons have been abducted, while three people were killed during a fresh terrorist attack on Karku community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Kafanchan has confirmed the abduction in a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Reverend Father Jacob Shanet.
“With profound sadness, we announce the kidnapping of our priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku, Kauru LGA of Kaduna State,” the statement read.
Father Shanet disclosed that Rev. Fr. Asuwaye was kidnapped alongside ten other residents when terrorists invaded the community at about 3:20 a.m. (WAT) at the priest’s residence.
He further revealed that the attack resulted in the killing of three persons identified as Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari.

“The situation was described by villagers as an invasion by a group of terrorists,” he said.
The Diocese called on priests, Christian faithful, and people of goodwill to pray for the safe release of the abducted victims and for the repose of the souls of those killed.
“The entire Diocese of Kafanchan entrusts them to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for their speedy and safe release from the hands of these evildoers,” the statement added.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Joseph Hayab, described the attack as heartbreaking.
Hayab said, ‘Kidnapping is getting too much’ lamenting on the continued abduction of Christian leaders and innocent citizens despite ongoing security efforts.
He expressed solidarity with the Catholic Church and urged security agencies to take urgent and decisive measures to curb the rising wave of kidnappings and killings in the region.
