Iranian Pastor Reacts to Khamenei’s Death, Explains Why Iranians Celebrated

An Iranian pastor has explained the Khamenei death reaction that surprised many observers around the world.

Pastor Ara Torosian shared his perspective during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network. The discussion was monitored by Church Times Nigeria.

According to him, the celebrations that followed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, were not about rejoicing over death. Instead, many people saw the moment as a sign of hope after years of oppression.

Celebration Rooted in Hope

Torosian clarified that many Iranians did not celebrate the death itself. Rather, they celebrated the possibility of change.

“We are not celebrating the death of Ayatollah Khamenei,” Torosian said during the interview.

“What the people are celebrating is hope. What happened in the country gives us hope as human beings.”

The Khamenei death reaction, he explained, reflects the deep frustration many citizens have felt after decades of strict political control.

Decades of Oppression

The pastor noted that many Iranians have lived without freedom for years. According to him, this reality explains why people reacted strongly to the leader’s passing.

“For decades, people suffered under oppression and dictatorship,” he said.

He also pointed to biblical teachings while discussing justice.

“As Christians, according to Isaiah 1:17, we are commanded to seek justice,” Torosian added.

He believes many citizens now see an opportunity for a new future.

Reaction to International Intervention

Torosian also spoke about the recent international involvement in Iran’s crisis.

While he expressed sadness over casualties recorded during the conflict, he described the intervention as a turning point for the country.

“This is what Iranians asked for,” he said.

“The people of Iran were desperate for help. We knew we needed assistance.”

He added that external support helped challenge what he described as a long-standing oppressive system.

Prayers for Peace in Iran

Despite the celebrations seen in some areas, Torosian said many Iranians are praying for peace and stability.

He stressed that the reaction should not be misunderstood as joy over a death.

“People wondered why we danced when Ayatollah Khamenei died,” he explained.

“We didn’t dance because he was killed. We danced because, after decades of dictatorship, this regime of repression is leaving Iran forever.”

Torosian concluded that the Khamenei death reaction represents hope for a new chapter in Iran’s history.

“We are thankful for what is happening,” he said. “This is a unique season for us.”
