The Ondo fake pastors arrest has sparked fresh warnings from authorities after operatives of the Ondo State Police Command apprehended six suspected fraudsters in Idanre.

Police say the suspects posed as pastors and staged fake miracles to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

Police Launch Intelligence-Driven Operation

According to the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, tactical operatives carried out the operation to nap the scammers.

He explained that the Tactical Teams worked closely with Community Safety Officers. They acted on credible intelligence about a fraud syndicate operating in Idanre and nearby communities.

The coordinated raid led to the arrest of six male suspects identified as Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola.

How the Suspects Allegedly Staged Miracle Scams

Police investigations reveal that the group allegedly organized fake spiritual programmes to gain public trust.

They reportedly posed as pastors and religious leaders. They staged miracles and spiritual interventions to convince victims of their “divine powers.”

According to Jimoh, the suspects exploited people facing financial hardship, health challenges, and personal struggles. They promised supernatural solutions. However, they allegedly demanded money and defrauded their victims through false pretences.

During interrogation, investigators discovered that the group assigned specific roles to each member. This structure helped them create a convincing appearance of legitimacy.

Investigation Ongoing, More Arrests Possible

The Ondo fake pastors arrest may not be the end of the case.

Police say they are working to determine the total number of victims. They are also assessing the financial scale of the fraud. Authorities are tracking other possible collaborators who may still be at large.

Jimoh confirmed that all six suspects remain in police custody. The command will charge them to court after concluding investigations.

Police Warn Residents Against Religious Fraud

Following the Ondo fake pastors arrest, the police urged residents to stay vigilant.

The command advised the public to verify claims made during religious gatherings. It also warned against suspicious financial demands disguised as spiritual instructions.

Authorities encouraged residents to report dubious activities to the nearest police station.

The police stressed that criminals often hide behind religion and spirituality to manipulate emotions. They urged citizens to exercise caution and protect themselves from miracle scams.
