Anglican Church Supports US Intervention in Nigeria

The Anglican Church supports US intervention in Nigeria as insecurity continues to claim lives and destroy property worth billions of naira across the country.

The Standing Committee of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has openly endorsed the Federal Government’s collaboration with the Government of the United States of America to deploy special squads. The church believes the move will help locate and neutralize terrorist networks operating in Nigeria.

Anglican Church Warns That No Region Is Safe

In a communiqué released after the meeting, the committee expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation. According to the church, no region remains untouched by banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, herder–farmer clashes, or ethnic and religious violence.

The communiqué stressed that these threats continue to spread fear, disrupt livelihoods, and weaken national unity.

Call for Stronger Security Action

The Anglican Church supports US intervention in Nigeria because existing security measures have not delivered the expected results. The committee noted that the government’s constitutional duty to protect lives and property still falls short.

Church leaders urged authorities to adopt decisive strategies and strengthen reminders to restore peace and public confidence.

  • Blessing Chinyere Enyindah – Dean, Church of Nigeria

  • Festus Chukwunyere Opara – General Secretary, Church of Nigeria

Why This Matters

By declaring that the Anglican Church supports US intervention in Nigeria, the church aligns itself with broader calls for international cooperation to combat insecurity and protect citizens nationwide.
