Police Say No Signs of Violence as Investigation Begins

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele and three members of his crew, who were found dead in a music studio located in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos State.

According to the police, investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, adding that no signs of violence were observed on the bodies of the victims.

Online reports indicate that the victims had stayed overnight in the studio after ministering at a birthday praise event and were later discovered unresponsive the following morning.

The deceased crew members were identified as Joseph Sanya, Itunu Ogundele, and a blogger, Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv.

Further findings revealed that the group was scheduled to minister at a birthday praise programme organised by fellow gospel artiste Olanireti Akinbola. The event, which spanned three days, reportedly began on Monday.

A police source explained that the session with  Ogundele and his team ministered had started in the evening and extended late into the night, prompting them to sleep over in the studio.

The source added that Segun Praise was billed to minister on the second day and came along with his crew, noting that since the programme ended late, they decided to stay overnight. Their bodies were discovered the next morning.

The Lagos State Police Command says further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
