Ogbomoso Anglican Diocese Christmas Carol: Bishop Olayinka Declares Christ the Victorious Light
The Ogbomoso Anglican Diocese on Sunday held its annual Diocesan Christmas Carol and Nine Lessons service, for the year 2025, themed “The Victorious Light.”
The colourful service featured renditions from various church groups, including the Women’s Organization Choir, Christian Men’s Fellowship, Clergy Wives Choir, Anglican Youth Fellowship, the Clergy Rendition, and the Diocesan Mass Choir. The atmosphere was filled with praise as different hymns and Christmas songs were rendered throughout the service.
Delivering the sermon, the Lord Bishop of Ogbomoso Anglican Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Dr. T. B. Olayinka, emphasized that Jesus Christ remains the only true Light of the world. He stated that without the coming of Christ, the world would be engulfed in total darkness.
The Bishop explained that Christmas goes beyond wearing new clothes or enjoying festive meals, noting that the season celebrates the greatest gift ever given to mankind—Jesus Christ. According to him, God gave His Son to deliver humanity from the power of darkness.
He further described darkness as the complete absence of light, stressing that darkness is hostile to light and cannot coexist with it. He concluded with prayers that the light of Jesus Christ would overshadow every form of darkness in the lives of individuals, families, and the nation at large.
