RCCG Thanksgiving Service Highlights Theme of Gratitude
The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s international headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Enoch Adeboye during a special thanksgiving service themed “Gratitude” has recounted how British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua survived a fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to Adeboye, Joshua’s escape was nothing short of divine intervention. The General Overseer explained that Joshua had exchanged seats with one of his companions shortly before the crash. Tragically, the two friends he swapped seats with—Ayodele Kevin and Ghami Sina—lost their lives in the accident.
“I read in the newspapers yesterday that our boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, exchanged seats with someone before the accident. The people he exchanged seats with died. I don’t know why, but the mercy of God said someone would still be alive today,” Adeboye said.
He stressed that survival, achievement, and greatness are not solely products of human brilliance but are often outcomes of divine mercy. “I am alive because of the mercy of the Lord. It is not my cleverness, but the mercies of the Lord,” he added.
The thanksgiving service highlighted the importance of gratitude, with Adeboye urging worshippers to recognize God’s mercy in their daily lives. Joshua’s survival, he noted, serves as a powerful reminder that life itself is a gift sustained by divine grace.
